3 June 2016 the city of Obninsk was visited by a high-ranking delegation of the Plurinational State of Bolivia. The delegation included Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bolivia in Russian Federation His Excellency Diaz Mamani Cirilo Alex, Deputy Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy Ministry Mr.Rodriguez Gutierrez Joaquin and Project Head Manager of the Bolivian Atomic Energy Agency (ABEN) Mr.Silverio Chavez Rios. The Russian side was represented by leading companies in the nuclear industry: the State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom”, JSC “NIKIET”, JSC ASE, JSC “Science and innovations”, JSC “Rusatom Overseas Ink”.
In Obninsk The delegation visited of Physical Chemistry, SSC RF – IPPE with a technical tour to the World’s First Nuclear Power Plant, Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI and ROSATOM-CICE&T. On the premises of the last the results of the visit were summed up and a session of technical consultations on training for the nuclear industry of Bolivia was held.
Vice-rector for International Cooperation of ROSATOM-CICE&T Professor Vladimir Artisyuk shared the experience of the Institute in the training of specialists and the top managers of the main organizations responsible for the development of nuclear infrastructure in the countries embarking on nuclear power programmes. Also Prof. Artisyuk presented integrated package of services developed by ROSATOM-CICE&T in the field of nuclear infrastructure required for sustainable and safe implementation of nuclear power programmes in the newcomer countries.
During the session of technical consultations the parties reviewed plans for the personnel training for nuclear industry of Bolivia at all levels, beginning with professional education at universities to continuing education of professionals. During the discussion Prof. Artisyuk made an offer for training on the basis of ROSATOM-CICE&T higher-education teaching personnel of Bolivian universities for further training of specialists for Bolivian nuclear industry.
Also the parties discussed the need of the Russian delegation visit to the Bolivian city of El Alto, where Rosatom will help to build a Centre for Nuclear Research and Technology, to familiarize the local population with the benefits of the nuclear industry development and consultations that will help to dispel the myths that exist around nuclear projects.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bolivia in Russian Federation Diaz Mamani Cirilo Alex and Deputy Mayor of Obninsk for Economic Development Mr. Ananiev discussed further cooperation between the cities of Obninsk and El Alto and even the possibility of becoming twin cities.
