From 24 to 28 October 2016 ROSATOM-CICE&T hosted a pilot Workshop for employees of the Russian nuclear industry to strengthen their competencies required to cooperate with international organizations. The Workshop was organized jointly with the IAEA Division of Human Resources. The Workshop was attended by 21 experts from 14 organizations, as well as Rostekhnadzor, Rospotrebnadzor and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.
This Workshop was the first practical step in the framework of a large project to optimize the selection process of Russian specialists for work in international organizations. The Cross-cultural communications, emotional intelligence approach to managing people and treating the interviews were selected as high-priority topics in competence building. The training incorporated lectures of the experts with long experience of working in the IAEA in the past at high positions like DDG (Mr A.Buchkov), Section head (Mr Z.Drace), Technical group lead (Mr Yanev).
The mock-up interview session with each of the participant was conducted by the IAEA HR specialists Mr L Nicodemo and Ms G Lee.
The Workshop closing and graduation ceremony was attended by the IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Management Ms J Dunn Lee and the Deputy Director General – Director of ROSATOM International Activities Department Mr N Spassky who outlined that the effectiveness of the IAEA, which is a central organization in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy, depends on the human resources development (HRD). The interaction of the Workshop participants with experienced IAEA managers is a unique experience for their training on how to work in international organizations. Also Mr N Spassky thanked the Rector of ROSATOM-CICE&T Dr Yu Seleznev for the contribution of the Institute in the international cooperation, noting that ROSATOM-CICE&T is currently the principal body of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ‘Rosatom’ for the HRD with a focus on the best international practices.
