The Interregional Training Course was held in the St. Petersburg branch of Rosatom Technical Academy from 23 to 27 April. It was the first event in the series of events to be organized in 2018 in the framework of Agreement between State Atomic Energy Corporation ‘Rosatom’ (Rosatom) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) concerning extra budgetary contribution to the implementation of the Technical Cooperation Projects on Nuclear Infrastructure Development.
The purpose of this training course was to demonstrate the importance of human resource development (HRD) and workforce planning as it relates to the establishment of new or expanding nuclear power programmes, and to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and practical experience essential for developing an HRD country plan.
The participants of the course were representatives of organizations from the countries expanding or embarking on nuclear power programmes: Argentina, Ghana, Indonesia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Romania, Senegal, Slovakia, Sudan, Thailand, Uganda, Viet Nam, Uzbekistan, Zambia.
During one week training course, experts from the IAEA and Rosatom presented relevant guidance and provided case studies based on IT system OCTOPUS of good practices related to the establishment of HRD and workforce planning as part of a nuclear infrastructure.
