On June 2, 2016 Mr. Syed Mobashir Ali Shah Banoori, the IAEA Consultant in Small and Medium Sized Reactors (SMRs) from Nuclear Power Technology Development Section of the IAEA visited ROSATOM-CICE&T. During the visit Mr. Banoori met the ROSATOM-CICE&T specialists involved in international trainings on SMRs and attended the lectures on «Experimental study of WWER passive safety systems operation for the computer code verification» delivered by Russian experts at the IAEA Regional Training Course «Building Capacity for Infrastructure Development and Safety Assessment of Water Cooled Water Moderated Power Reactor Technology with Advanced Safety Features: the Case of WWER/PWR» ongoing in ROSATOM-CICE&T.
The main topic of the discussions was put to ROSATOM-CICE&T activities related to SMR. This activity started in 2011 when the team of Russian experts fixed the general curricula for international training courses to introduce Russian SMR technology. Based upon this, two pilot training courses were performed: one with the focus on heavy metal liquid coolant SMR in 2013 in cooperation with engineering Company «AKME-engineering» and the other one focused the pressurized water SMR – KLT-40S in 2015. Both courses were highly evaluated by international team of trainees. The lessons learned from these pilot trainings were summarized and moved the ROSATOM-CICE&T to design the new training course «The main technological features of Russian SMRs projects» that is advertised to potential customers in 2016.
