14-18 May 2018, Sochi and St. Petersburg,
The Russia—IAEA Nuclear Management School for Managers in Nuclear Organizations is organized in the Russian Federation by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in cooperation with State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom” through Rosatom Technical Academy (Rosatom Tech). This one-week education and training event is devoted to building leadership competencies essential to supporting nuclear infrastructure development in countries embarking on or expanding national nuclear power programmes. The School is aimed at providing mid—level managers in the nuclear industrial sector and governments of IAEA Member States with broad understanding of key issues and challenges associated with peaceful uses of nuclear technology.
A unique feature of the School in Russia is its focus on practical cases of energy policy implementation and nuclear power development. It consists of two sessions:
- The session in Sochi (14—15 May 2018) is organized in conjunction with the ATOMEXPO 2018 International Forum, one of the largest internationally recognized venues focusing on important issues facing the nuclear industry
- The session in St. Petersburg (16—18 May, 2018) incorporates a technical tour to Leningrad NPP-2 site, which is at the final stage of its commissioning
Topics covered by the School include human resource development challenges, leadership & management in nuclear enterprise, nuclear safety, security, safeguards, overview of current nuclear reactor design options, nuclear fuel cycle and waste management, industrial involvement and localization of construction, public acceptance and implementation of nuclear knowledge management programmes. Each topic is approached first in the form of lectures delivered by IAEA and Russian experts and then further elaborated on in panel discussions with involvement of all participants.
