High Ranking IAEA Delegation Visited Rosatom Tech

On September 28-29, 2017 the IAEA Deputy Director General – Head of the Department of Management Ms M. Hayward and the Director of the Division of Human Resources
Ms K. Rojkov visited Obninsk Headquarters and Moscow Branch of RosatomTech.

In Obninsk the distinguished delegates delivered lecture on the IAEA mission and activities and had a constructive discussion with students and young professionals on the IAEA recruitment policies. Special meeting was organized to meet the authorities of the Obninsk research centers (Karpov Scientific Research Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Joint Stock Company State Scientific Centre “Institute for Physics and Power Engineering” after A.I. Leypunsky, Federal State Budgetary Institution “Research and Production Association “TYPHOON”) and Obninsk Branch of National Nuclear Research University – MEPhI to discuss their experience and potential cooperation with the IAEA.

In Moscow Branch of RosatomTech the IAEA delegation met with the representatives of non-profit organization “Woman in Nuclear Russia” (WiN) and discussed the potential contribution of female professionals into global development of nuclear energy.

WiN Russia has been established in 2017 to consolidate and develop a community of woman working professionally in various fields of nuclear energy. WiN Russia forms the resource for better integration of woman in the workforce. Since nuclear science is dominated by men it is of great importance to support the female nuclear specialists in their professional growth and career development and build up a positive public attitude towards nuclear. One of the practical measures in obtaining this issue is an open dialog with public on safety use of nuclear and radiation technologies.

The IAEA DDG-MT Ms M. Hayward highlighted the importance of using networking opportunities to enhance the prestige of nuclear career. The development of comprehensive cooperation among woman in nuclear field could be achieved through variety of career activities where different female nuclear representatives will share the examples of their successful careers in nuclear.

In order to support WiN activities in the future Rosatom Tech is going to establish a group of female-specialists helping to increase the representation of women in nuclear-related fields.
