From 8 to 12 December 2014 Smolensk NPP (branch of JSC «Concern Rosenergoatom») hosted an International workshop on Safety Culture, which was one of the stages of the project «Safety culture and human factor». Specialists from Smolensk NPP involved in the project, international consultants from Finland Mr. Jussi Helske and Mr. Antti Piirto, and Mr. Eduard Volkov (expert of International Center for NPP Personnel Training, ROSATOM-CICE&T) participated in this workshop.
ROSATOM-CICE&T plays role of the integrator of corporate policy development in the field of safety culture (http://rosatom-cipk.ru/?p=4158) including the implementation of international initiatives (http://rosatom-cipk.ru/?p=5767); thus, cooperation with Finnish experts is very important for ROSATOM-CICE&T especially in view of Hanhikivi NPP to be built in Finland in cooperation with Rosatom.
Experts evaluated safety culture at the Smolensk NPP, visited its subdivisions, investigated working documentation and took interviews with NPP staffs, maintenance and repair services, as well as electrical, chemical, thermal automation and measurement shops. Furthermore, the experts made presentations on the issues related to the improvement of safety culture. According to Mr. Eduard Volkov, expert from ROSATOM-CICE&T who consulted the project of Smolensk NPP on safety culture and Finnish colleagues confirmed the high level of safety culture at Smolensk NPP.
