The Group Scientific Visit on Establishing an Owner/Operator for New Nuclear Power Programmes completed on June, 8 at the St. Petersburg branch of the Rosatom Technical Academy (Rosatom Tech). This scientific visit was the third event in the series of seven events being organized in 2018 in the framework of Agreement between the Rosatom SAEC and the IAEA concerning extra budgetary contribution to the implementation of the Technical Cooperation Projects on Nuclear Infrastructure Development.
Attendees of the meeting are representing overseas organizations from the countries embarking on nuclear power programmes: Bangladesh, Belarus, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, as well as representatives of the Rosatom SAEC and the IAEA, took part in the visit.
The visit was conducted within 5 days, from 4 to 8 June. The visit programme includes presentations by leading experts and representatives of operating organizations from France, Finland, Belarus and Russia, who shared their experiences in establishing and operation of Owner/Operator organizations.
Representatives of the Rosenergoatom Concern JSC and the Rusatom Overseas JSC have presented the Russian experience of operating nuclear utilities, their role and functions, management systems, approaches to the human resource development, education and training options.
Participants have visited the Leningrad NPP-2 which is under construction now, and special training centre in St Petersburg equipped with the full scope simulator of the floating NPP to have a discussion with trainers and operating managers involved in the development of these the most advanced nuclear power endeavors.
