From October 10-14, the Rosatom Technical Academy hosted for the first time an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)International Training Course on Control of Nuclear Material in Use, Movement and Storage.
The course was organized by the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security of the IAEA in cooperation with the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Institute (GNSSI) of the Rosatom Technical Academy. According to Egor Bologov, the Director of the GNSSI, this course has expanded the range of training activities that were previously conducted by the institute only on the topics of information and nuclear security.
23 trainees from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Algeria, India, Russia and 4 IAEA experts took part in the training course. Some of the lectures were delivered in an online format, other lectures and all practical classes were conducted in person.
During the course, specialists improved their knowledge in the field of identification of nuclear material, its accounting and control, practiced in the categorization of nuclear material; discussed the topic of access control to nuclear material during emergencies and others.
The students' interest in the course content was demonstrated by active discussions during the classes. As Tariq Majeed, one of the IAEA experts, said: "I would like to thank everyone for the very active discussions during the course. This demonstrated the great interest of the listeners."
In addition, the participants noted the experience and qualifications of the instructors, the practical significance of the materials presented, and the high level of organization of the event.
