Representatives of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority visited Rosatom Technical Academy

Nuclear regulation is the key element for nuclear power industry development in newcomer countries. The International Atomic Energy Agency (the IAEA) continuously gives special attention to this issue referring to the influential document “Managing Regulatory Body Competence” that describes a competence model which determines that a regulatory body’s workforce should have technical competence. In this connection a group of specialists from the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (BAERA), invited by the Russian Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Supervision (the Rostekhnadzor) visited  Rosatom Technical Academy (the Rosatomtech) on June 7, 2022.

It should be noted that currently the Rosatomtech is providing the on-the-job training for the Rooppur NPP operating personnel at the Novovoronezh NPP. During their stay in Russia the BAERA representatives are also planning to visit the Novoronezh NPP and a number of other nuclear enterprises. On 7 July 2022 Rosatom Technical Academy organized an introductory lecture for the BAERA group. Within this event Dr. Vladimir Artisyuk, Advisor to the General Director of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, made a presentation  on the current status of nuclear power development in Russia with a special accent given to Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) of Russian design and nuclear power with Fast Reactors and closing nuclear cycle to achieve a radiological equivalence.
