THE IAEA COURSE DISCUSSES NUCLEAR SECURITY ISSUES IN OBNINSK

At the Rosatom Technical Academy, together with the IAEA and the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Institute (GNSSI), an international training course was held. A representative of the International Network of Education in the field of Nuclear Security (INSEN) is also among students. .

The main topic of discussion is security of nuclear facilities.

- In many countries, as you know, there are medical institutions using nuclear technologies, as well as nuclear power plants. And they need physical protection, new systems. And these courses help us understand how to create and manage these systems. We study various documentation and experience of other countries, see how it is implemented - fences, video surveillance, strict access control. The issue of protection is acute today, because technologies are developing day by day, therefore, they require more attention, - said Okan Ozer, Professor of the University of Gaziantep (Turkey), Department of Nuclear Physics, member of the partner association of the International Network of Education in the Field of Nuclear Security (INSEN).

Professor Ozer also stressed that Turkey is actively cooperating with Rosatom, another contract was recently signed, and expressed hope that further cooperation will not only continue successfully, but also expand.
