State Corporation “Rosatom” is considering Obninsk as a platform for training of foreign specialists of those countries that intend to develop nuclear energy on the base of Russian technologies. Both industry leaders and city officials are interested in turning the city into an international centre of nuclear education.
On the 3rd of August Obninsk was visited by Rosatom Deputy Director General for International Cooperation Nikolai Spasskiy. The purpose of his visit is the coordination of the interaction of the city educational institutions associated with the training of foreign specialists in the field of nuclear technology: MEPhI, CICE&T, ISTC.
The visit is caused by the expansion of the list of countries with which Russia has signed an agreement on NPP construction. During the visit there was a meeting with the Head of Administration Alexander Avdeev where various aspects of cooperation between city authorities and the State Corporation “Rosatom” in the field of foreign specialists training were discussed. At INPE, as it’s known, the engineers for NPP operation are trained, and CICE&T implements training programs for top managers, who are intended to provide guidance for national nuclear power programs. Practice shows that at the initial stage of program development there is a question of top managers training, who already have degrees at national and leading universities in developed countries, working experience in nuclear energy and science, experience of on-the-job trainings at leading enterprises of nuclear industry of developed countries and the IAEA. By education and working experience a specified category is close to faculty teaching staff. Therefore, training of managers is an important task, at which the creation of International Training Centre based in CICE&T is aimed at.
