Professor Mitsuru UESAKA from Tokyo University and Ms. Fumio ADACHI from the IAEA Nuclear Knowledge Management Section visited ROSATOM-CICE&T on October 27. Both ROSATOM-CICE&T and Tokyo University have practical arrangements with the IAEA in support of newcomer countries in the field of education and training (http://www.iaea.org/newscenter/news/2010/scienceducation.html, http://rosatomtech.com/?p=468).
Mr. Roman KRITSKY, Deputy Director of International Training Centre presented brief on the ROSATOM-CICE&T history, roles and responsibilities, its achievements and implementing the international training activities and cooperation with the IAEA focusing in human resource development. The specific point was the discussion on the technology of knowledge transfer from nuclear experts to new generation of international nuclear specialists engaged in the development of national nuclear infrastructure. In ROSATOM-CICE&T this is performed trough the mechanism of developing training courses when nuclear experts work alongside young English speaking ROSATOM-CICE&T professionals to produce training materials based on Systematic Approach to Training recommended by the IAEA.
Highlight tour on Obninsk were organized for the Japanese guests to familiarize them with the Obnisk’s role in developing civil nuclear technologies (The-First-In-The-World NPP was put into operation in Obninsk in 1954) that brought in its status as the First Scientific City of the Russian Federation (http://www.admobninsk.ru/obninsk/gorod/naukograd/). Photo session near the monument to Academician Igor Kurchatov – the father of nuclear development in the Soviet Union was performed for the good memory of the visiting Obninsk.
