On June 2, 2016 Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and ROSATOM-CICE&T have signed a cooperation agreement that provides opportunity for TPU graduates to participate in construction, commissioning and operation of NPPs to be built by ROSATOM outside of Russian Federation.
“This year we are planning to select 10-15 English speaking graduates to start their training for the position of NPP operators”, – said Rector of ROSATOM-CICE&T Mr. SELEZNEV, noting that next year this number can grow up to 50 people per year.
He outlined that Rosatom is planning to build up NPPs abroad, involving personnel from Russian nuclear power plants – about 3 thousand people just in the coming years. “This requires accelerated personnel training to meet the coming turnover” – he emphasized.
Vice-rector of TPU Mr. BOROVIKOV noted that TPU has been training specialists for the nuclear industry for more than 65 years. More than 13 thousand engineers have graduated from the University, of whom about 60% got a job at NPPs. In cooperation with ROSATOM-CICE&T this experience will contribute to globalization of Russian VVER technology.
