The Regional Workshop on Technology Selection and Deployment in Environmental Remediation Projects started in ROSATOM-CICE&T on November 10. This is the second IAEA event dedicated to environmental remediation hosted by ROSATOM-CICE&T in 2014. The first was performed as a training course mainly for EurAsEC countries (http://rosatomtech.com/?p=1308)
This workshop is focus on how to select and deploy appropriate technologies to be used in the remediation of radioactively contaminated sites in a structured and tiered manner with a view to provide a systematic process to formulate solutions to problems of different degrees of complexity and to document the rationale for the selected remediation systems.
The workshop will introduce the participants to the decision process of selecting and deploying technologies to be applied in the remediation of sites affected by radioactive contaminants.
13 participants from Russia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kazakhstan, Romania, Serbia, Tajikistan, who are implementers and regulators engaged in remediation and decommissioning activities in their countries, attend the workshop.
Mr Horst Monken Fernandes from the IAEA and Mr Frank Dennis from UK are the facilitators of the workshop.
