February 17-26, 2015, the Academy for Global Nuclear Safety and Security Agents hosted The 4-th International Symposium and Seminar on Global Human Resource Development for Safety, Security and Safeguards (Tokyo Institute of Technology -TITech, Japan).
The Academy was established in December 2011 at the TITech for enhancing global nuclear security, including training of future global leaders in the nuclear-related field to work in the IAEA and authorities regulating nuclear programs inside and outside Japan. The leader of the Academy – Prof. Masaki Saito who is famous in Russia for his contribution to the development of cooperation between Japanese and Russian nuclear education systems. Prof. Saito – Professor Emeritus in NRNU MEPhI and former Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering.
More than 30 speakers from all round the world were invited to the event. The main emphases of their speeches were nuclear safety, safety culture and lessons learned after Fukushima Daiichi accident.
The target audience of the Seminar/Symposium were students and young professionals, with the total number of 40 participated in the event. The two-week education consisted of 5 days of lectures describing causes of accident and current situation with elimination of accident consequences, 3 days of technical tours including visits to Fukushima Daiichi and Fukushima Daini NPP’s and measurements of dose rate from contaminated and polluted soil. Also, the teamwork had 30% of total time of symposium and focused on the development of competence in management of cross-cultural teams. The working language of the Seminar/Symposium was English.
Rosatom CICE&T representatives participated in the International Symposium and Seminar on Global Human Resource Development for Safety, Security and Safeguards: Prof. Vladimir Artisyuk (member of an International Review Committee of the Academy for Global Nuclear Safety and Security Agents, former graduate of Prof. Saito’s Laboratory) and Mr. Anton Diachenko (Specialist of International Center for NPP Personnel Training).
