The International Workshop is an annual event organized by Rosatom Tech under the support of the ROSATOM project “International Cooperation in the Field of Nuclear Education”. It continues the experience of 2017 when ROSATOM-CICE&T (now Rosatom Tech) established a platform for cooperation between an education systems and the industries from both recipient countries and the Russian Federation as a supplier country, with involvement of international organizations working in the field of nuclear energy to foster knowledge transfer, capacity building, interuniversity cooperation and implementation of joint educational programmes with universities of partner countries in support of national nuclear projects.
As a result of the Workshop, representatives of international and Russian universities jointly developed models of road maps for cooperation aimed at assistance in the development of nuclear education in partner countries with three trajectories corresponding to a nuclear facility to be constructed in a country (NPP with large reactor, NPP with SMR, Centre for Nuclear Science and Technology). The results will allow harmonizing the proposals of the Russian side with the needs of the recipient countries in the field of nuclear education.
Within the framework of the International Seminar, a ceremony of signing an agreement on cooperation between Rosatom Technical Academy (Russia) and Tashkent Chemical Technology Institute (Uzbekistan) took place. In support of the key areas of Russian-Uzbek cooperation in the field of civil nuclear energy, the Tashkent Chemical Technology Institute together with Rosatom Tech, which is the main tool of ROSATOM to support the development of the nuclear infrastructure of newcomer countries in cooperation with the IAEA, through this agreement created the basis for joint activities in the field of training and research in nuclear science and technology oriented to the development of a sustainable system of peaceful use of nuclear energy and development of infrastructure in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The International Workshop “Capacity Building for Nuclear Industry: International Cooperation in Nuclear Education” was organized as a part of the Rosatom Tech Summer Events for Universities which included also a train-the-trainers course for university faculty members titled “Technological Aspects of AES-2006 (VVER-1200). Development of Nuclear Curricula on VVER Technology” (10-21 July 2018, Rosatom Technical Academy, Obninsk). The training was aimed at professors, lecturers and researchers involved in initiation or development of nuclear curricula in universities of countries embarking on nuclear power programmes, in particular, seeking to develop nuclear power with Russian design VVER-1200 reactors.
