Representatives of Rosatom Tech took part in the conference of the European Commission on Research and Training in Safety of Reactor Systems and Radioactive Waste Management FISA2019 and EURADWASTE’19 in Pitesti on June 4-7 co-organised by the European Commission and the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2019.
Prorector-director of the department of international business development Pavel Zhuravlev during the E&T networking event «Nuclear Education: A Cause for Concern?» delivered presentation «ENEN-RU projects experience. Proposals of the Russian side to expand cooperation with ENEN». In the framework of the final session “Education and training, research infrastructure and international cooperation”, participants reviewed the possibilities for developing cooperation in the field of education and research. The basis for such cooperation could be ENEN-RU FORUM, the creation of which was recorded in the Memorandum of Cooperation signed at Atomexpo-2019 between ENEN and Rosatom Tech.
The parties will discuss the next steps at a meeting on cooperation with organizations of the European Nuclear Education Network as part of the ENEN-RU Forum on June 26 in Obninsk during the events celebrating the 65th anniversary of the First NPP in the world.
In addition, Evgenii Varseev, specialist of the International Center for Personnel Training at Rosatom Tech, finalist of the research paper competition of postgraduate students organized by European Nuclear Education Network (PhD Event), delivered a scientific report on the thematic section of the conference. The section presented nine works by participants from France, Belgium, Sweden, Italy and Russia on topics related to modeling the processes occurring during severe accidents and thermo-hydraulic processes in the core of nuclear reactors; issues of nuclear waste disposal, control and accounting of nuclear materials, analysis of nuclear data, experimental study of the properties of liquid salts for advanced nuclear reactor systems and the chemistry of liquid metal coolants for the development of a two-component nuclear system.
The first ENEN-RU project was initiated by Euratom in 2008 through a sub-group 5 (Education and Training) of the Euratom-ROSATOM Working Group on cooperation in nuclear fission research. On the Russian side, the implementation of the ENEN-RU projects is supported by the ROSATOM’s Innovation Management Unit through a project “International cooperation in the field of nuclear education”, and Rosatom Technical Academy is the coordinator and operator for cooperation with universities.
