The training course on The Finnish YVL Guides and the Requirements for the Design and Construction of a NPP in Finland was held on 14-15 June in the St. Petersburg branch of Rosatom Technical Academy. Leading experts from the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (www.stuk.fi/web/ru ) of Finland and Dr. Vitaliy Ermolaev, technical Director of nuclear business ENERSENSE INTERNATIONAL OY, were involved as lectures. Almost three hundred participants from the companies involved in Hanhikivi-1 project attended the seminar.
The purpose of the event is to get the Russian experts familiar with updated YVL guides containing requirements for nuclear installations particularly focusing on the following topics: licensing, radiation protection, fire safety and fire protection, internal and external hazards, management system, etc.
Special value of this event is in the creation of a cross-cultural environment for the exchange of experience with the experts from other companies involved in the project and for the opportunity to receive first-hand answers from the representatives of the regulatory authority.
“This seminar is of a great interest due to the opportunity to hear the regulator’s opinion on some Hanhikivi-1 issues directly from the representatives of STUK… More specialized, thematic sessions for the discussion of issues on the project could become a good continuation of the seminar” – said Alexander Kirzhakov, Director for Engineering at RAOS Project Oy.
