Technical visit of TOP Managers of Nuclear Power Development of Vietnam under the IAEA’s Technical Cooperation Programme

Following the request of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Central Institute for Continuing Education and Training (CICET) hosted the consultancy visit of Vietnamese delegation under the Agency’s Technical Cooperation Programme from 5 to 18 June, 2011. Vietnam is a very important representative of the community of emerging nuclear countries. New countries tending to the “nuclear club” need the organization of training courses and seminars which would be held by the suppliers of technologies. The future managers of nuclear programmes who usually already have a good education need practical training in nuclear industry, direct contacts with experts and “live” experience. CICET with its close links to “ROSATOM” enterprises and its branches on NPP sites is a suitable platform for organization of such an activity. For delegation of Vietnam there were organized the introductory training course in Project Management for NPP under Construction (in Sankt Petersburg branch of CICET) and series of lectures in Fuel Fabrication Technology (in the headquarter of CICET in Obninsk). Technical tours included visiting the Leningradskaya NPP-2 (under construction), Fuel Fabrication Plant “Mashinostroitekny Zavod”, National Nuclear Research University – MEPhI and its branch in Obninsk- Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering, VNIIAES- leading Russian organization in the field of development of simulators for training of the NPP personnel. On the final day (see pictures below) there were exchange of the opinions and impressions about introductory course. In its activity the CICET follows the Systematic Approach to Training. That is why the summary of the feedback is an essential step for the further steps in developing the specific courses. The summary was collected from the representatives of the main Vietnamese nuclear stakeholders: Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute, Vietnam Electricity – EVN and Vietnam Agency for radiation and Nuclear Safety – VARANS.
