For the third time the training course “Technological Aspects of AES-2006 (VVER-1200). Development of Nuclear Curricula on VVER Technology” was hosted by Rosatom Technical Academy this summer. The event was held in Obninsk from June, 24 to July, 05. The purpose of this course was to help faculty members from universities of partner-countries in enhancing their knowledge of VVER technology, including VVER-1200 project and developing educational modules on nuclear technologies.
The event was attended by 23 representatives from 12 countries (Bolivia, Egypt, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Italy, Nigeria, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Finland, Sweden), including 8 students from Europe (representatives of the European Nuclear Education Network (ENEN) Universities). According to the course completion result, all students were awarded ECTS credits which could be recognized by their home universities.
The first week of the course was devoted to nuclear education issues, the current state of the Russian nuclear industry, various aspects of the VVER-1200 and AES-2006 operation conditions and nuclear fuel engineering. Course participants also took part in an International Conference “Capacity Building for Nuclear Industry: Education, Research, Safety”.
The second week of the course covered AES-2006 safety issues and the development of relevant educational programs at universities with an emphasis on the practical work. The participants also visited the world’s first nuclear power plant (in Obninsk), which celebrated its 65th anniversary this year, and made a technical tour to the Novovoronezh NPP-2 (VVER-1200, Gen III+).
The course “Technological Aspects of AES-2006 (VVER-1200). Development of Nuclear Curricula on VVER Technology”, it is a part of the ROSATOM project “International Cooperation in Nuclear Education” and in the framework of this project Rosatom Technical Academy is an exclusive operator for the cooperation with universities.
