On September 1, 2015 in the St. Petersburg branch of ROSATOM- CICE&T started training courses for 17 crewmembers of first Russian Floating NPP. Training program contains both theoretical and practical training. Theoretical training consists of lectures and practical exercises in the classroom on various aspects of the operation: reactor physics, nuclear and radiation safety, reactor control and operation , regulations in nuclear reactor operation, safety systems. Practical training involves full-scale simulator training, which allows simulating all possible operation modes, including emergency. Training takes more than 1000 academic hours. Training courses are provided by instructors of the St. Petersburg branch of Rosatom CICE&T, USP “Directorate for Construction and Operation of Floating Nuclear Power Plant, the Branch of JSC «Concern Rosenergoatom». Training has been opened by “The organization of radiation safety” course.
Russia’s first FNPP “Academik Lomonosov” is being constructed at the Baltic Shipyard. According to the schedule it will be commissioned in 2016. FNPP will replace Bilibino NPP and Chaun TPP, which will be decommissioned in 2019. It is important in terms of sustainable energy supply in the region of Chukotka. FNPP produces 80 MW and includes two KLT-40S reactors. Approximately 300 employees (two shifts) are planned to recruit and train for FNPP crews.
