On 23 July 2013 CICE&T hosted the delegation from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam led by Deputy Minister for Science and Technology Mr. Tran Van Tung.
There is the scientific and technical center in Vietnam which is being set up with the assistance of the Russian Federation. This center, among other things, will provide technical support to developing nuclear power programme. In this context IAEA has approved the stay of the Vietnam delegation in Obninsk in order to get familiar with the Obninsk science and training center.
This one-week visit of Vietnam delegation to Russia was organized on request of IAEA Secretariat in the framework of the practical arrangements signed in September 2011 between the IAEA, State Corporation “Rosatom” and CICE&T with a view of consultations on developing human resources and national training system in nuclear power. During the visit a number of meetings with Russian officials and technical tours to nuclear facilities was organized.
The Vietnamese delegation visited State Corporation “Rosatom” and MEPhI (including Obninsk branch) in order to discuss the current status and prospects of education programmes for Vietnamese specialists. Technical tours to VNIIAES, RNC Kurchatov Institute (including St-Petersburg branch), Kalinin NPP (including training center), JSC Atomenergoproekt and CICE&T branch in St-Petersburg were conducted to get the Vietnamese delegation acquainted with information concerning history of the facilities, their current activities and achievements.
