Training Course on the Nuclear Infrastructure Issue: Radiation Protection

On September 26-30, 2016, the training course on “Radiation Protection” was carried out at the ROSATOM-CICE&T (Obninsk) as a part of cooperation in the area of personnel training for the national Nuclear Infrastructure (NI) of the Republic of Belarus. The course was developed through the contract with the Project Office for Nuclear Infrastructure (PONI) of JSC ‘Concern Rosenergoatom’ in 2015 as a part of the portfolio of ROSATOM-CICE&T services aimed at supporting the national nuclear infrastructure development in embarking states.

The course was delivered by ROSATOM-CICE&T and Russian national nuclear industry experts in the field of nuclear infrastructure development and radiation protection. The training was attended by the representatives of the Belorussian operator – Republican Unitary Enterprise “Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant” and State Scientific Institution “The Joint Institute for Power and Nuclear Research – SOSNY”.

For the final assessment the trainees were requested to prepare the reports covering the current development status, challenges and the corrective measures assumed for the nuclear infrastructure issue “Radiation Protection” in order to successfully conduct IAEA missions in the Republic of Belarus.

This is the fourth training course conducted in ROSATOM-CICE&T for the last year to assist the Republic of Belarus in the national NI development. It is planned to hold additional three training courses on the following NI issues: “Environmental Protection”, “Nuclear Safety” and “Emergency Planning” in the current academic year.
