Training for top managers of the National Nuclear Energy Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BATAN)

A specialized training course for top-managers of BATAN was held from October 30 to November 3, 2017 within the framework of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between Rosatom Technical Academy and BATAN. The purpose of this course was to provide information about Russian design of small and medium modular reactors (SMRs) with the focus on high-temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTGR).

The program of the training course provides a series of lectures introducing the participants with the integrated proposal of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, product solutions and services in the SMRs segment based on light water technologies and technologies based on the use of gas coolants.

In their reports representatives from JSC «Afrikantov OKBM» described in detail the technological capabilities of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors for the production of high-temperature heat for use in various industries (chemistry, petrochemistry, refining, intensification of viscous oil extraction, metallurgy, etc.), and features of projects developed by JSC «Afrikantov OKBM».

During the visit to National Research Center «Kurchatov Institute» Scientific Project Manager of Reactor units with HTGR introduced to the  representatives from BATAN the peculiarities of HTGR technology development, as well as the features of the research base (the ASTRA Critical Facility) to substantiate conceptual solutions in the projects of Reactor units with HTGR.

BATAN representatives got acquainted with the progress of the Akademik Lomonosov Floating Nuclear Power Plant construction and visited Izhorskiye zavody OMZ Group – the leading heavy engineering company specializing in engineering, production, sales and service of nuclear power equipment.

In addition, the program of the course includes reports on ensuring the information security of complex industrial facilities (LLC “Engineering Technologies”), as well as the issues of operating and using radioactive sources for industrial and medical purposes (“Karpov Research and Development Physical and Chemical Institute” JSC).
