Two delegations from Vietnam and Japan visited CICE&T

Since 1967 CICE&T has been concentrating its efforts on capacity building and the competence development of human resource for sustainable development of nuclear technologies. Recently the focus of CICE&T has been shifted to HRD for the countries embarking on nuclear power programmes among which Vietnam manifests the challenging example of the country that simultaneously invites two technologies: the NPP Ninh Thuan-1 will be built according to Russian design and the NPP Ninh Thuan-2 – by Japanese design. It is interesting to note that distance between NPPs is just several dozen kilometers. The question that arises is whether NPP staff of one particular NPP could support the performance of another NPP in the case of emergency. To meet this challenge the harmonization of NPP training programmes on the side of vendors seems to be an important issue.

On the June 6 two delegations from Vietnam and Japan visited CICE&T. In 2011 in cooperation with IAEA CICE&T organized three short-term training courses for Vietnam specialists in Project Management, Reactor physics and Start up of national nuclear power programmes. This time high ranking Vietnam delegation led by His Excellency Vice Minister of Science and Technology – LE Dinh Tien visited CICE&T to discuss integrated planning of training for 2012-2014 yrs. Japanese delegation led by Mr. Takuya HATTORI – the President of Japan Atomic Industrial Forum (JAIF) came to visit CICE&T to learn about practices and future plans of CICE&T in supporting the emerging nuclear power programmes.

The trilateral Workshop organized by CICE&T thus makes a step towards vendor cooperation in harmonizing their activities to provide HRD in recipient country for its secure energy future.
