On October 17-18, Ms Najat MOKHTAR – Director, Division for Asia and the Pacific – visited Rosatom Technical Academy (RosatomTech) to participate in Russian-Iranian International Workshop: “25 Years of Cooperation Between Russia and Iran in the Area of Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy: New Prospects under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, Annex III” organized by the State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom” jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation with the participation of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, representatives of the countries involved in implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (Great Britain, Germany, China, USA, France) and European Commission.
Moscow session of the Workshop on October 17 was designed as a two educational sessions exchange platform. The first seсеion was focused on Nuclear Energy, Nuclear Safety and Personnel Training. Ms Najat MOKHTAR made a presentation on the IAEA’s Technical Cooperation Programme in the second section on Nuclear Applications And Nuclear Technologies in Medicine, Industry, Agriculture and Science.
On October 18 the Workshop moved to Obninsk – the cradle of the nuclear development for peaceful use that acquired the status of the First Russian Scientific City by special Decree of the President of Russian Federation in 2000. The participants had a technical tour in All-Russian Research Institute of Agricultural Radiology and Agroecology that develops advanced nuclear methods and tools for applications in agriculture and headquarter of the RosatomTech where special lectures were presented to participants on the history and status of nuclear power development in Russia.
At the end of the Obninsk session Ms Najat MOKHTAR took a memorial photo near the monument to the founder of Russian (Soviet) nuclear programme – Academician Igor KURCHATOV – the symbol of the Obninsk Scientific City.
