The Group Scientific Visit on Establishing an Owner/Operator for New Nuclear Power Programmes started on August, 28 at the St. Petersburg branch of the Rosatom Technical Academy (Rosatom Tech). This is first in the series of six events being organized in 2017 in the framework of Agreement between Rosatom Corporation and the IAEA concerning extrabudgetary contribution to the implementation of the Technical Cooperation Projects on Nuclear Infrastructure Development.
Attendees of the meeting are representing overseas organizations from the countries embarking on nuclear power programmes: Bangladesh, Belarus, Egypt, Ghana, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Niger, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda.
The visit is conducted within 5 days from August, 28 to September, 1. The visit programme provides for presentations of experts from nuclear utilities located or being built in France, Turkey, Finland and Belarus who share their experiences in establishing and operation of Owner/Operator organizations.
Representatives of Rosenergoatom Concern JSC and Rusatom Service JSC, integrator of Rosatom State Corporation training service offerings for foreign VVER NPP present the Russian experience of operating nuclear utilities, their role and functions, management systems, approaches to the human resource development, education and training options.
Participants visit Leningrad NPP II which is under construction now, and special training centre in St Petersburg equipped with the full scope simulator of the floating NPP to have a discussion with trainers and operating managers involved in the development of these the most advanced nuclear power endeavors.
