The face to face part of the Interregional Training Course on Design Safety and Safety Assessment for Nuclear Power Plants was held from 16 to 18 November within the extra-budgetary contribution of the Russian Federation to the IAEA Technical Cooperation projects for the development of national nuclear infrastructure in newcomer countries. The first part of the training course was delivered online from 31 May to 2 June 2021.
To complement the online theoretical part of the training course, the face-to-face programme included group discussions and virtual technical tours to Leningrad NPP (VVER-1200 reactor), and Beloyarsk NPP (BN-800 fast reactor) organized by JSC Rosenergoatom. The virtual tours were held in 360° format and allowed to demonstrate various NPP facilities, such as the main control room, the turbine hall, the reactor hall, and the training centre. The final part of the virtual tours included the interactive Q&A session with representatives of NPPs.
The face-to-face training was attended by 15 participants from 10 countries. The expert pool was represented by the IAEA, EDF (France), JSC Atomenergoproekt Moscow and Saint-Petersburg Design Institutes. Conducting the training course sequentially in two formats, online and in-person, provided the participants with an opportunity for the deep theoretical study of the training course topics and effective among participants and experts.
