This Forum was organized by State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM, Rosenergoatom Concern, Emergency Technical Center and ROSATOM-CICE&T from 29th September to 3rd October 2014.
Over 300 representatives of federal and local authorities, governing bodies, enterprises and organizations of the nuclear industry of Russian Federation and abroad participated in the Forum.
The Forum’s goal was to facilitate an exchange of experience in the field of nuclear and radiological emergency preparedness and response and to enhance scientific, technical, practical, legal and social aspects of emergency preparedness and response.
During the Forum participants discussed topical issues of preparedness and management response to nuclear and radiological accidents.
Main forum topics were: National emergency preparedness and response system as an element of national nuclear infrastructure; International and national experience in emergency preparedness and response, lessons learned from past accidents and incidents, stress tests results; Accident consequences assessment and radiation monitoring; Equipment, methods and materials for decontamination and remediation of contaminated territories; Radiation protection of personnel and population in the case of radiological emergency; Nuclear risks and nuclear insurance; Education and training in the field of radiological preparedness and response.
Another important part of the Forum was focused on: Development of the legal basis for the safety of nuclear technologies, emergency preparedness and response; Nuclear security provisions for nuclear and other radiological material transportation and for major public events, counterterrorism; Communications in crisis and emergency situations.
Dr. Yury Sokolov (Director of Department of Science&Technology Cooperation, JSC “Concern Rosenergoatom”) and Prof. Vladimir Artisiuk (Director of Department of International Cooperation, ROSATOM-CICET&T) participated in the Forum and made presentations about assistance of Russian Federation to the newcomer countries in the field of nuclear infrastructure. (Actvities in support newcomer countries).
Dr. Yury Sokolov and Prof. Vladimir Artisiuk visited FSUE “Emergency Technical Center of Minatom of Russian Federation” to explore the potential of the Centre for the training of experts of national nuclear infrastructure of countries-recipients of Russian nuclear technology in the field of emergency preparedness.
