The Moscow branch of the Rosatom Technical Academy hosted the Seventh Joint Russian Federation – IAEA Nuclear Knowledge Management School.
20 participants from 14 countries received specialized education and training on the development and implementation of nuclear knowledge management programmes in nuclear science and technology organizations. It is intended for young professionals in current or future leading roles in managing nuclear knowledge.
Rosatom Technical Academy experts shared with the participants the experience of preserving critical knowledge in the Russian nuclear industry — from identifying unique expertise to creating knowledge bases and ensuring the continuity of knowledge transfer between generations. Rosenergoatom JSC representatives introduced to the participants of the School virtual technical tours to the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant (VVER-1200) and the Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant (BN-800).
Project work formed the core of the educational programme. Divided into groups, the participants developed knowledge management strategies for specific business units — from the initial concept and action plan to risk assessment and knowledge preservation strategy. On the final day, each group presented and its project before experts from the IAEA and the Rosatom Technical Academy.

The goal of the Russia–IAEA Nuclear Knowledge Management School is to transform this concept into a practical tool through new projects and in the context of long-term operation of NPPs. Rosatom Technical Academy is a unique partner that trains specialists both in Russia and abroad. Therefore, it is very important for the IAEA that a practical approach to managing knowledge as a resource be implemented from the very beginning — starting from the design, construction, and launch of the projects that Rosatom implements», — said Tatiana Karseka-Yanev, IAEA coordinator of the School.

It is particularly significant that the School sessions are held in Russia, as Rosatom possesses unique and extensive expertise in nuclear research, technologies, and personnel training», — shared the opinion a participant of the School, head of Research Center for Nuclear Beam Analysis Technology, National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia Abu Khalid Rivai.
