On October 11, 2017 the Director of the IAEA Division for Europe of the Department of Technical Cooperation Mr Martin KRAUSE visited Obninsk Headquarter of Rosatom Technical Academy (Rosatom Tech).
Obninsk is famous for The-First-in-the-World Nuclear Power Plant connected to the grid in June 1954 and for its unique status of the First Russian Scientific City in accordance with the special Decree of the President of Russian Federation #821 as of May 06, 2000. Several R&D and E&T institutions have links with the IAEA. Experience of cooperation with the IAEA was presented to Mr Martin KRAUSE by representatives of JSC “State Scientific Centre of the Russian Federation – IPPE”, Medical Radiological Scientific Centre named after A.F.Tsyb, Research and Production Association “Typhoon”, Karpov Scientific Research Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Russian Institute of Radiology and Agroecology.
Rosatom Tech highlighted the recent activities implemented in the framework of Practical Arrangements signed with the IAEA in 2011 and training plans within the extrabudgetary contribution of Russian Federation to implementation of the IAEA Technical Cooperation projects on nuclear infrastructure development as well as series of the regional training courses on Safety Assessment of WWER/PWR with Advanced Safety Features and environmental remediation.
Before leaving the Rosatom Tech, Mr Martin KRAUSE, Mr Dmitry ULANOV (ROSATOM HQ) and Mr Vladimir ARTISIUK (Rosatom Tech) took a memorial photo near the monument to the founder of Russian (Soviet) nuclear programme Academician Igor KURCHATOV – the symbol of the Obninsk Scientific City.
