Events dedicated to the 60th Anniversary of the First-in-the-World NPP and Nuclear Power of Russia were held on June, 25-27 2014 in Obninsk. The 25th Annual International Science and Technology Conference of Nuclear Society of Russia «NPP: yesterday, today, and tomorrow» was organised during this time. In the framework of the conference technical tours, meeting of veterans of the nuclear industry and round table discussions were organised on various venues in Obninsk.
On the eve of the anniversary activities a cell of the Youth branch of the Nuclear Society of Russia was formed in ROSATOM-CICE&T. It was formed out of 10 people under the supervision of Mr. Ilia Filipev (Specialist of the International Center for NPP Personnel Training, http://rosatom-cipk.ru/?p=4169). These young staff have actively participated in organizing anniversary events, forming a working group on the organization and support of two round table discussions «Quality issues in nuclear power industry and technical regulation in the field of nuclear power use» and «SMR technology applications». Both discussions were organized in ROSATOM-CICE&T and are inextricably linked with the institute activities.
On the first round table Mr. Denis Pavlov (Director of the Department of Technical regulation, State Atomic Energy Corporation «Rosatom») made a presentation entitled as «Features of technical regulation in the field of nuclear power use». During round table speakers described the 4th generation quality control system, discussed the issues of building a «quality management system» and the issue of building a system of uniformity of measurements.
On the second round table speakers discussed the actual directions of small-scale nuclear power development: submarines, floating, space, small-scale and regional power industry. It is important to mention that ROSATOM-CICE&T is actively involved in educational support of development of small and medium size reactors – the international training seminar « Introduction to the Liquid Metal Fast SMR Technology» was organized by ROSATOM-CICE&T in October 2013. Directors of Departments of State Atomic Energy Corporation «Rosatom» and its subsidiaries: OJSC Rosenergoatom Concern, National Research Centre «Kurchatov Institute», JSC «Rusatom Overseas», Fuel Company of Rosatom «TVEL», JSC «Atomenergomash» as well as ROSTECHNADZOR (Regulatory Body) and Nuclear Safety Institute (IBRAE) of the Russian Academy of Sciences actively participated in the plenary session of the conference on June 26th. Ms. Tatiana Terentieva (HR Director, State Atomic Energy Corporation «Rosatom») noted that ROSATOM-CICE&T makes significant contribution in establishing of corporate system for continuing education and training and pointed out new objectives for ROSATOM-CICE&T in support of international expansion of Russian nuclear technologies.
On June 27th Prof. Vladimir Artisyuk (Director of Department of International Cooperation, ROSATOM-CICET&T) chaired the special session entitled as «The future of nuclear energy: young generation involvement, experience and knowledge transfer». An international partners of ROSATOM-CICE&T Prof. Guido Gluschke (Institute for Security and Safety) (http://rosatomtech.com/?p=1229), Mr. Miroslav Gregoric (former Head, Prevention Section, Office of Nuclear Security, IAEA, former Head, UNMOVIC office in Bagdad, former Head, Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration) as well as IAEA trainees from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Dr. Thong Trinh and Ms. Thi Van Anh Nguyen (http://rosatomtech.com/?p=1195, http://rosatomtech.com/?p=1219) have also actively participated in this session.
The final session entitled as «The role of international cooperation in the development of nuclear power industry and the place of non-governmental organizations in the process» was chaired by Mr. Vladimir Kuchinov. Among the speakers were Ms. AgnetaRising (DirectorGeneral, WNA), Prof. Emeritus André MAÏSSEU (University «Paris 1-La Sorbonne», WONUC Honorary Chairman), Mr. JacquesRégaldo (WANOChairman) and Mr. Mikhail Lysenko (Director of Department of International Cooperation, State Atomic Energy Corporation «Rosatom»).
Prof. Vladimir Artisyuk (Director of Department of International Cooperation, ROSATOM-CICET&T) made the conclusive presentation entitled as «International Activities of ROSATOM CENTRAL INSTITUTE FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION AND TRAINING».
It is symbolic to mention that the first in the modern Russian history sodium-cooled reactor BN-800 was started-up on June 27th 2014 – 60 ears after the First-in-the-World NPP was connected to the Soviet electric grid (1954).
On July 4th, after official programme in Obninsk city devoted to 6th Anniversary of the First-in-the-World NPP was finished, in a headquarter of Rosatom CICE&T there was an Award Ceremony to honor 16 staff members who had a job experience associated with nuclear power no less than 25 years and demonstrated significant contribution in the development of our institution. Among them Vice-Rector for International Cooperation – Director of Department of International Cooperation Prof. Vladimir V. Artisyuk was awarded with the Anniversary Medal «60 Years of Nuclear Power».
