Representatives of the IAEA have visited the ROSATOM-CICE&T

On Sept 01-02, 2016 Representatives of the Technical Cooperation Department and of the Nuclear Installation Safety Division of the IAEA have visited the ROSATOM-CICE&T.

Mr. J. Zhang as the Project Management Officer (PMO) and Mr. A. Ulses as the Technical Officer (TO) of the Regional Project RER9144 have participated in the discussion on implementation of the regional courses in the framework of the Project “Building Capacity for Infrastructure Development and Safety Assessment of Water Cooled Water Moderated Power Reactor Technology with Advanced Safety Features: the Case of WWER/PWR”.

The objective of this Project is to build capacities in nuclear power reactor safety assessment procedures for personnel of the Nuclear Infrastructure for New and Expanding Nuclear Power Programmes. Specific emphasis in implementation of project is made on the current standards and requirements for assuring safety in the nuclear power industry, the fundamentals of nuclear, radiation, industrial and fire safety, the rules and procedures for NPP safety analysis, the specifics of NPP with WWER-type reactors and the design of safety systems for NPP with AES-2006 and WWER-TOI.

The officials of the Department for International Cooperation made presentations on the IAEA – ROSATOM -CICE&T Cooperation, on the issues of the regional training courses on the Infrastructure Development and Safety Assessment of WWER/PWR and the Remediation of the Areas Affected by Uranium Mining, the training course on the Management of Severe Accidents and the Cross-Cultural Communications and Generation aspects in the safety culture.

An extensive and fruitful discussion has been supported by the Mr. D. Ulanov, coordinator of the ROSATOM cooperation with the IAEA and by Mr. E. Maslov, the second secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The Project is approved by the IAEA for 4 years (2016-2019) and includes a series of the reginal courses. The first one of that series has been already delivered in May 2016 (see:  http://rosatomtech.com/completing-the-iaea-regional-training-course/). The next regional course of that project is assumed to be held on Nov 14-25 in the ROSATOM-CICE&T.
