From October 14 to 18, the Russia–IAEA Scientific Visit on Commissioning for Professionals was held in the St. Petersburg branch of Rosatom Technical Academy, as part of an extra-budgetary contribution of the Russian Federation for the implementation of technical cooperation projects of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The aim of the Visit was to provide training for senior professionals of Nuclear Energy Programme Implementing Organizations (NEPIOs), Nuclear Regulatory Bodies, Owner/Operators, or education and training organizations from Member States that are actively planning and preparing for nuclear power plant commissioning. The Visit was attended by representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, Pakistan, Russia and Turkey.
During the Visit participants got acquainted with the practice of resolving issues on various aspects of the pre-commissioning and commissioning works on NPP, took part in a series of thematic sessions, including lectures and practical exercises, visited the Leningrad NPP-2, including the VVER full-scale simulator .
Mr. Aninda DUTTA RAY, nuclear engineer of the IAEA Department of Nuclear Energy, delivered a special lecture on the relevant IAEA commissioning documentation.
