From September 1, 2015 the St. Petersburg branch of ROSATOM- CICE&T conducted training courses for the first group of operational personnel for management and maintenance of a unique nuclear power facility – Floating Nuclear Power Plant, which has no analogues in the world.
Future crewmembers of “Akademik Lomonosov” were selected on a competitive basis by the operating company JSC “Concern Rosenergoatom”. The selected candidates had considerable experience in maintenance of stationary and floating reactor units at management level: chief engineers and field engineers.
During 7 months a group of 20 people was trained in the field of operational safety of FNPP. Theoretical training consisted of lectures and practical exercises in the classroom on various aspects of the operation: reactor physics, nuclear and radiation safety, damage control, reactor control and operation, regulations in nuclear reactor operation, safety systems.
“Training of FNPP personnel was a challenging task, because it has been the first in the world, – said the Director of the St. Petersburg branch of ROSATOM- CICE&T Tair Tairov. -For this training the best trainers and experts prepared a special training facilities and training materials. The candidates were selected from already experienced people – mainly members of icebreaker crews, navy and nuclear experts”.
More than 150 qualified crewmembers are needed for management and maintenance of Floating Power Plant “Akademik Lomonosov”. For the moment ROSATOM- CICE&T is the only training institution which has necessary competences to train personnel in this particular area. Training was conducted by the St. Petersburg branch of the Center of Safety Competencies under the direction of Mr. V Belyakov.
At the end of the theoretical course the trainees will proceed to the stage of practical testing of the obtained knowledge at the Floating NPP unit under construction. According to the schedule it will be commissioned in 2017.
