In mid-December, specialists from the People’s Republic of China passed the exam. Employees of the current Tianwan NPP received semi-annual training in administrative and technical courses as part of the provision of services under the contract with JSC “Rusatom Service”.
The training program included three main stages: A three-month course at the site of the Technical Academy in Obninsk, two-month training at the St. Petersburg branch of the Academy, practical training at the site of the Leningrad NPP. Chinese specialists successfully mastered theoretical and practical modules, which was reflected in good and excellent defense of reports on special topics relevant to the Russian nuclear industry.
The ceremony was attended by General Director of the Tianwan NPP Shen Yanfeng, first Vice-rector of the Rosatom Technical Academy Vladimir Aspidov, and chief engineer of the NPP-2 Alexander Belyaev.
This training contributed to the strengthening of cooperation between Russia and China in the field of nuclear energy. The two sides have repeatedly stressed the importance of further interaction between States for common prosperity and strengthening friendly relations. As Mr. Shen Yanfeng noted, in the nuclear field, JNPC expects to work more closely together in order to advance new training projects as soon as possible.
At the end of the course, Chinese specialists got certificates with the results of training, especially distinguished listeners were awarded bronze statuettes by Igor Kurchatov as a symbol of the nuclear industry.
“During the training, specialists of the Tianwan NPP showed a pursuit for knowledge and a pursuit to comprehend the new one. The responsibility and discipline inherent in this people will undoubtedly help to achieve professional results,” Andrei Boldovsky, coordinator of the training project, shared his impressions.

The General contract for the construction of power units 7 and 8 of the Russian-designed Tianwan NPP with VVER-1200 reactors was signed in March this year. The preparation of contracts was conducted in accordance with the strategic package of agreements signed on June 8, 2018, which determined the main directions for the development of cooperation between Russia and China in the field of nuclear energy for the coming decades.
