From August 3-5, 2021, Rosatom Technical Academy and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) jointly held the virtual part of the Russian Federation–IAEA Advanced Nuclear Energy Management School. The School was attended by 26 representatives from 14 countries.

The School participants were able to discuss these topics in depth through the open dialogue with Russian and international experts, lectures and panel discussions.

At the opening ceremony Mr Ian Gordon, IAEA Senior Knowledge Management Specialist, Dr Vladimir Artisyuk, Adviser to the Director General of ROSATOM, and Ms Alesia Iunikova, Director of Center for International Cooperation of Rosatom Technical Academy addressed the School participants with welcoming remarks. During the second face-to-face part of the School, participants will deepen their knowledge on the topics of nuclear safety and security, industrial involvement, IAEA safeguards and will visit JSC MSZ Machinery Manufacturing Plant in Elektrostal as part of a technical tour.

For reference:

The IAEA Nuclear Energy Management Schools have been regularly conducted since 2010.

The first joint Russia-IAEA NEM School was conducted in 2016 at the St. Petersburg branch of Rosatom Technical Academy. Starting from 2017, NEM Schools in Russia have been conducted within the framework of the Agreement between ROSATOM and IAEA concerning Extra-budgetary Contribution to the implementation of the IAEA Technical Cooperation Projects on nuclear infrastructure development in newcomer countries. In 2021, the Russia-IAEA Nuclear Knowledge Management School will be held in October in pursuance of agreements with the IAEA Secretariat.
